The notion of the hero

women writersProfessor Emerita of English Judith Wilt explores the topic of the hero in her new book, Women Writers and the Hero of Romance (Palgrave Macmillan, 2014). In perhaps the most personal book of her long career, Wilt draws from classics like Wuthering Heights and Middlemarch, epics from Ayn Rand and Dorothy Dunnett, and pop culture romances from Twilight to Fifty Shades of Grey in her analysis of heroes, heroines and romance. View this video where Wilt discusses her book with Brendan Rapple of BC Libraries.
