Peter Eisner, an award-winning author and reporter, will speak on his new book, The Pope’s Last Crusade: How an American Jesuit Helped Pope Pius XI’s Campaign to Stop Hitler, at Boston College on Mar. 25. From the publisher: Eisner combines new evidence (released only recently from Vatican archives) and eyewitness testimony to create a thrilling narrative into a little-known story of an American’s partnership with the head of the Catholic Church and Pope Pius XI’s effort to condemn Nazism and the policies of the Third Reich—a crusade that might have changed the course of World War II. Eisner is a former reporter for the WashingtonPost, Newsday and the AP. His book The Freedom Line was honored with a 2005 Christopher Award. The lecture, which begins at 7 p.m., will take place in Devlin Hall, room 008. Sponsor: Center for Christian-Jewish Learning.
