Segregation and expectation

Anthropologist Nancy Abelmann will discuss her book, The Intimate University: Korean American Students and the Problem of Segregation, which describes the tensions between the ideals of higher education and the experiences of Korean American undergraduates at the University of Illinois, where she is the Harry E. Preble Professor of Anthropology, Asian American Studies, and East Asian Languages and Cultures. Her lecture will be Oct. 21 at 7 p.m. in Devlin 008. Sponsor: Asian and Asian American Studies.
